Asean Vascular and Wound Research considers plagiarism and other forms of academic misconduct to be unacceptable. The journal is committed to maintaining the originality, integrity, and credibility of all published work.

All submitted manuscripts may be screened for plagiarism and text similarity using Turnitin or other appropriate similarity-detection software. Similarity screening may be conducted during the initial editorial assessment and, when necessary, before publication.

A similarity index of 15% or less is generally acceptable. However, the similarity percentage is not used as the sole basis for determining plagiarism. The editorial team will assess the nature, sources, and context of the similarities identified. Properly cited quotations, references, standard terminology, and other legitimate similarities may be excluded from consideration.

If the similarity index exceeds 15% or substantial inappropriate similarities are identified, the manuscript may be returned to the authors for revision and clarification before the editorial process continues.

Levels of Plagiarism and Actions

1. Minor Plagiarism

Minor plagiarism refers to a limited amount of copied or closely paraphrased text from another source without appropriate citation, where no substantial data, results, or original ideas have been misappropriated.

Action:
The authors will receive a warning and will be required to revise the relevant sections, properly acknowledge the original source, and resubmit the manuscript for further consideration.

2. Intermediate Plagiarism

Intermediate plagiarism refers to a substantial portion of a manuscript that has been copied or reproduced from another work without appropriate citation or acknowledgment.

Action:
The manuscript will be rejected. The authors may also be prohibited from submitting manuscripts to Asean Vascular and Wound Research for a period of one year.

3. Severe Plagiarism

Severe plagiarism refers to substantial appropriation of another publication's original data, results, findings, methods, or ideas, including the reproduction of original research results without appropriate attribution.

Action:
The manuscript will be rejected, and the authors may be prohibited from submitting manuscripts to Asean Vascular and Wound Research for a period of five years.

Author Responsibility

All authors are collectively responsible for the originality and integrity of the content submitted to the journal. By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that they have read and understood the journal's publication ethics, copyright, and plagiarism policies.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that all material derived from other sources is appropriately quoted, paraphrased, cited, and acknowledged.

If plagiarism or other forms of academic misconduct are confirmed, the applicable action may be imposed on all authors listed on the manuscript, regardless of the individual author's contribution to the misconduct.

Post-Publication Plagiarism

If plagiarism is identified after an article has been published, the journal will investigate the matter in accordance with its Publication Ethics Policy and applicable Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidance.

Depending on the severity of the violation, the journal may issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction and may impose appropriate restrictions on future submissions.

Asean Vascular and Wound Research reserves the right to take additional measures when necessary to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.
